Crisp cool mornings, colorful fall foliage, an apple picked off the tree moments before you eat it. The New Hampshire Sidecar gives you the ability to enjoy those sensations in a glass! Apple brandy smoothed by a bit of maple liqueur, apple cider intensified by fresh lemon juice and all sweetened with some real maple syrup. Sophisticated and smooth with undertones of caramel apples that will transport you to your first state fair. Aside from it's autumnal-NH-taste-profile, the components of this drink are born and bred New Hampshire products. Except for the lemon, we don't grow lemons in NH. Maybe soon though, most of the orchards now grow peaches which would have been impossible 30 years ago. If you are unfortunate enough to live somewhere that you can't get real maple syrup, it would be worth the expense to have some real maple syrup shipped to you.
- 1 1/2 oz. Apple Brandy (We use Flag Hill's Josiah Bartlett Apple Brandy)
- 1/2 oz. Sugar Maple Liqueur (Also from Flag Hill)
- 1 1/2 oz. Apple Cider
- 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 - 3/4 oz. Maple Syrup
Chill your martini glass. Squeeze the lemon and set the juice aside. Fill your cocktail shaker about 3/4 full with ice cubes. Use a jigger to quickly and accurately add the apple brandy and the cider. Then add the maple syrup, maple liqueur, and lemon juice. Shake it vigorously (after securing the cap) until your hand is uncomfortably cold, about 45 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Enjoy the deliciosity.
